Everything to know about Tavellio lamps

What makes a Tavellio lamp cordless?

Every lamp runs on a built in battery and charges over USB-C, on the same cable as your phone. There is no plug and no visible wiring, so the lamp stands where you want it instead of where the socket is. See them all under rechargeable lamps.

Which materials do you use?

Natural stone is the heart of the collection: marble, travertine and alabaster, each one cut from a block. Next to the stone there is rubberwood, glass, a linen blend and metal. You can browse the collection by material, starting with the marble lamps.

Can I change the shade?

On the modular lamps the shade twists off the base, so glass, linen blend and porcelain can take turns on the same lamp. Shades are sold on their own as well, which you find under lampshades.

Does every stone lamp look the same?

No. Each base is cut from natural stone, so the veining and the colour differ from one lamp to the next. The product photo shows one piece; the lamp you receive has its own pattern. The same goes for the travertine lamps.

How do you switch and dim the light?

With a touch. The light steps from a warm, candlelit glow to a clear and brighter setting, and dims within each step. Which light settings a lamp has is listed on its own product page.

How long does one charge last?

That depends on the model and on how bright you set it: the lower settings run considerably longer than full brightness. The runtime of each lamp is stated on its product page, next to the battery size.

What is the difference between the collections?

Rijks is stone with interchangeable shades, Maera pairs a base with 3D-printed porcelain, Levora uses alabaster that lets the light through, Nordic is wood and Essential is the metal and wood line. They share the same system, shown in the modular collection.

Where are the lamps designed?

In Amsterdam, where the studio draws the lamps and develops the battery and the electronics in house. That is also where the modular idea comes from: bases and shades that can be rearranged instead of replaced.

STONE WITH ITS OWN PATTERN

Every marble base is cut from natural stone, so the veining differs from one lamp to the next. Rosso Levanto, Calacatta Viola, Nero Marquina: the pattern is the lamp.
