Everything to know about white table lamps

What is Arabescato marble?

Arabescato is a white marble with bold grey veins that curve and branch across the stone. The name comes from the Italian word for arabesque, after those flowing lines. See it next to the other white marbles under marble lamps.

What is Bianco Statuarietto marble?

Bianco Statuarietto is a white marble with soft, light grey veins. Bianco is Italian for white, and statuarietto refers to statuario, the white marble long associated with sculpture, so the name describes a pure white stone with quiet veining.

What is Calacatta Vionaro White?

A white marble with dark, purplish-brown veins that form large, irregular patches, which gives it a strong contrast against the white ground. Calacatta Vionaro also comes in pink and yellow; the pink version is under pink table lamps.

How do the three white marbles differ?

In how much veining they show. Bianco Statuarietto is the calmest, with soft grey lines. Arabescato has bolder grey veins that sweep across the base. Calacatta Vionaro White brings in colour, with dark patches. Many designs in the Rijks Collection come in all three.

How do I remove a stain from white marble?

Blot the spill first, without rubbing. A dark spot from oil or a coloured drink is a stain, which can often be drawn out with a poultice: an absorbent paste left on for a day or two. A dull, pale spot is an etch mark from acid, which needs polishing rather than cleaning.

Which white lamps have an alabaster shade?

Those in the Levora Collection. Alabaster lets light through and has its own soft, cloudy veining, so on a white marble base the whole lamp reads as pale stone, lit from within.

Which white lamps have a 3D-printed porcelain shade?

The white lamps in the Maera Collection. Their shades are 3D-printed in white porcelain in sculpted patterns, so on a white marble base the design is carried by texture and light rather than by colour.

Are there white table lamps that are not marble?

Yes, in white metal and in white rubberwood. The metal lamps are rated IP54 and the wooden ones IP44, both protected against splashing water, while the marble lamps are IP20. See the metal lamps.

WHITE MARBLE, WARM GLOW

Calacatta Vionaro marble under a shade of real alabaster. The stone lets the light through, so the lamp glows rather than shines. More of these are in the Levora Collection.
