It is our simplest range, and the one that copes with weather. Every lamp here is rated for splashing water, which is true of no lamp in the Rijks Collection, the Maera Collection or the Levora Collection: those belong indoors. The shapes are plainer and the prices are the lowest we make.

On a covered terrace or under a porch, yes, and a shower will not ruin it. Standing out in driving rain or through a night of frost still will not do, because cold shortens the life of any battery, so bring it in when the season turns. Of everything we make, the metal lamps handle damp best.

Metal or rubberwood, with a shade in a linen blend, frosted glass or clear glass. Metal is the tougher of the two outdoors; wood is warmer to hold and looks at home on a dining table.

Each lamp holds all three, and you step through them with a touch: candle light at 2700K, ambient light at 4000K and task light at 6000K. The same touch dims each of them, so the lamp goes from soft to bright without a switch anywhere.

Most sit between 24 and 30 centimetres, with a couple of smaller models around 15. That height carries the light across a table instead of pooling it in one spot, which is why they hold their own on a dinner table. See also the large table lamps.

Depending on the model the battery is 4000, 5000 or 5200 mAh. That gives 10 to 80 hours on the smallest, 10 to 100 on most and 10 to 120 on the largest: 10 at full brightness, the long figure at the lowest setting. Charging is over USB-C and the runtime is on every product page.

Not on these. The Essential lamps are built as one piece, which is part of why they stand up to a splash. If you want a lamp whose shade lifts off and can be swapped later, that is the modular collection.
